Secret Avatars
Avatars are little icons (50x50 pixels) that give yourself a little more personality when you are chatting on the Neoboards. They are the small pictures that appear to the left hand side when you post a message on the neoboards, or when you're emailing somebody, or even just when somebody searches up your username.
All users are given a set of standard avatars. If you don't change your neoboard preferences, then you'll be stuck with the yellow default avatar on the right. What newbies don't realise is that there are also a wide range of secret avatars that you have to gain by going to specific pages, having certain items, owning a species of pets or petpets, playing games or fighting in the battledome.
How do I get secret avatars?
Now that's where we come in. We've compiled a list of secret avatars according to category, and they are listed according to the ease of which you can get them. For newbies with no secret avatars at all, you have a LOT of catching up to do! For those who are just waiting for new secret avatars, the method of getting them will be posted on the front page news before being placed in this section.
Can I ask you for help?
I'm afraid that we're not much of an avatar collector so we don't have any of the items you'll need. However, you can always ask for help on the Avatar Neoboards. Try looking at posts to see if your questions are answered before creating a post of your own.
What is collateral?
Collateral is something, usually neopoints, you put down in order to borrow and item off someone. You usually do it when the item is quite rare and hard to obtain, or when it's something that's hard to sell later if you intend to dispose of it. The collateral system is used on the Trading Post, so if you're looking for a specific item you want to borrow, you can search there first.
How do I see how many avatars I have?
Just go to your lookup, look at the avatar icon in Collections and underneath it should be the number of avatars you have.
What's the point of collecting avatars?
Same answer as 'what's the point of playing neopets'. It's just a bit of fun. Plus, if you collect all of the avatars (whoa!) then you'll also get another avatar saying that you're a top avatar collector. Don't you want that glory? ^_^
You've missed out an avatar
We have? Please contact Jen (either through email, neomail or just post it on our front page) with the way to get that avatar and she'll put it up asap. Note: we don't put up unreleased avatars because we don't know how to get them.

If you think that the avatar information we have posted is wrong, please contact Jen and she'll fix it as soon as possible. We hope our avatar guide has been of help and we wish you luck in your hunt for all the secret avatars!
