Editing your Lookup

Making a lookup can be hard for many users on Neopets. Your lookup can either make you look like an exciting person or a lazy n00b. Some people have custom layouts, which is great, but for the artistically-challenged, you can choose premade layouts, which you can find on the User Lookups page.

Your lookup should show your creativity as well as your organisation. Pick just one theme, don't go mad and choose a theme about Anime, Neopets and Horses! Messiness is not the way to go when it comes to first impressions. Stick with just one theme, such as Baby Neopets, Faeries or Chocolate.

Write a little about yourself (you can do this by clicking here). Be careful not to write too much about your life because it gets quite tedious and boring, not to mention it takes up a lot of space that you could be using to wow your visitors. Keep it short and sweet like this:

Hi everyone! I'm Anne and welcome to my lookup. I'm a 14 year old girl who loves chatting in the Neoboards. I absolutely adore Baby neopets so my ultimate goal is to buy a Baby paintbrush! Feel free to neomail me if you want to be neofriends or just to chat!

Most people hate music on lookups or anywhere else for that matter. Not everyone is going to like the song you play on your lookup. Most of the time it's completely pointless because it takes forever to load and most people surf the web while listening to their own songs.

Keep the colors on your lookup simple and matching, nobody likes neon green and cyan mixed together with bright orange and yellow. If you need help with color schemes, try searching the web for color co-ordinations that suit your chosen theme. You can always ask someone with experience in that field to help you pick out some colors that would go well with the ideas inside your head, there's nothing to lose.

That's pretty much it. A last little reminder: Make sure your visitors feel welcome. Put up a welcome sign or incorporate it into your welcome message. As long as you acknowledge the people who take time to visit your lookup, they will feel welcomed and will always come back to visit. Hope this helped!
