Applying for Affiliates

Almost every good site needs affiliates; these affiliates could be anyone. Maybe just some random person, a neofriend, or even a sibling. No matter who you want to be affiliates with, you have to go through a somewhat "grueling" process - actually applying.

Getting up to scratch
If you want your site to have some pretty good affiliates, you'll have to be a good affiliate yourself. Meaning? You have to have a half-decent site. If you applied for affiliates with a site like Neo-Reality with a site that has two pages (being a glitter and the home page), what do you think Jen or Kathrin would say? Most likely, they'd try and chase you away with a Astronomy Club, or just plain old reject you. Yeah. Sorry. :( So make sure you're applying with a site that is around the same quality as your own. So this means you'll have some really good sites as affiliates! Right? Right? *nudge nudge* Now, onto the rules and regulations you have to.. wait for it.. read! O:

R-E-A-D-I-N-G-!
What does that spell? .. nah, I dunno either. Anyway, almost every single site has some rules you need to follow before applying with affiliates with them; to make sure you aren't just going "OK, quickly apply and then go do something else.. skim over the rules, yeah, whatever.." or something like that. That, or they just want to waste a few *seconds* of your life. So why don't you bother to read them, for me?
Most sites will have something squeezed in between the rules, like "Put 'Feepits Rock' somewhere on your application :)". So pay extra attention to the rules, and obey the Feepits. And don't forget to make sure you actually fit the normal rules as well.

Rejected
Unfortunately, there is a horrible word that almost every applicant hates to hear. REJECTED. Now before you flip out and break down crying, why don't you wonder why they rejected you? It may be because:

  1. Your site didn't fit the rules, or you didn't read them right (Feepits, my friend.)

  2. Your site wasn't a good quality enough to fit the rules

  3. Your link button was the wrong size or didn't match the layout (this has happened to a real life friend of mine. You have been warned.)

  4. You weren't literate in your application.

Aren't site owners mean sometimes? *ducks just in case Jen or Kathrin is reading* And most importantly, if you get rejected, don't reply with: "OMG U R SO MEEEN. MY SIGHT IS AWESUM I DUN CARE WUT U THINK MEENIES!"

Awards
But wait, there's more. Often, site owners might pop down and give you an award for being a good affiliate, helping them get 1000 hits (ha, you don't ever visit their site anyway. *ducks again* KIDDING!), or for having a good site. Remember to thank them, and take the time to put it on your award page. And you can give them awards too, or else they'll feel neglected! We don't want that, right?!

Sayonara
Yes, that does mean Goodbye. Funny, huh?
Remember that you can't do everything alone, and you will need help from affiliates. Just don't have 3/4 of your layouts filled up with flashy buttons. Annoying, much? Good luck applying for affiliates, and remember you should sort of have kept an eye on that site, hehe.
